Department of Education Releases Digital Learning Guide

Seeks to equip parents and guardians with digital tools for tailored learning experience.

The U.S. Department of Education announced last week the release of the new Parent and Family Digital Learning Guide, describing it as “a resource to help parents and guardians understand how digital tools can provide tailored learning opportunities, engage students with course materials, encourage creative expression, and enrich the educational experience.”

“As technology continues to iterate and benefit every part of our lives, all students need more opportunities to leverage the potential of technology in education,” Education Secretary Betsy DeVos said. “We hope families can use the information we release today as many of them are relying on technology more so than ever before and are navigating learning from home.”

The guide seeks to provide information to leverage technological innovations and flexibilities, to protect children in the online learning environment, to increase awareness of federal laws governing student privacy and safety, and competency-based learning with student assessments and check-ins. The guide is the first in what will be a series that provides digital learning and knowledge resources to school leaders and educators, as well as to parents and students.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • That God would lead the Department of Education as they set learning standards in place.
  • For wisdom for Secretary DeVos as she leads the department.
  • For students throughout the nation who are relying on digital and virtual learning.
